The R56 hardtop and R57 convertible represent the second generation of the modern MINI, launched under BMW's stewardship. Debuting in 2006 (R56) and 2009 (R57), this generation refined the retro-styled formula introduced by the R50/R53. The vehicle used the New Prince engines co-developed by BMW and PSA (Peugeot-Citroën). The facelift was in 2010 on this range.
