Buyers Beware! - Why You Should Never Buy Android Units From Anywhere Else....

We have been in the Android head unit market for over a decade now and we can spot a dodgy one a mile away. Sadly today, the Android car audio market is currently full of low-quality products and deceptive sellers. We often speak to buyers that have had their hands burned by other companies, so avoiding these pitfalls can save you time, money, and a lot of frustration. 

Here’s what to watch out for: 

False Specifications 

Android 13 units with 1GB or 2GB RAM is not possible. Android 13 needs at least 2.8GB DDR just to function. So if it is saying it is Android 13 and its only got 1 or 2GB, then this is just FALSE. You will most likely find these are actually Android 7.1 as that was the last Android system to have less than 2GB needed. 

Screen resolution is also another one with false information. Units are often falsely advertised as 2k or 4k resolution but are only 600px maximum display. 

Fake Reviews 

Many sites feature glowing but fake reviews. These are normally easy to spot if you take the time to read the reviews, but in todays busy world many people do not have the time. If their website is showing loads of 5 star reviews, maybe search Trust Pilot and you will most likely see a different story. 

Social Media Heavy

The amount of "Fred-in-a-shed" companies now is crazy. TikTok and Instagram advertising is what they do and they just freelance the business and sales on there, which is great until you need them. Would you really buy high end products of Facebook Marketplace? 

Unbelievable Delivery

Beware of promises like “next-day delivery” without concrete delivery details show at the checkout. Buyers will often be excited to buy when they see something comes with "free next day delivery" but that soon comes to an end, when after 2 days, you still don't have the product and you find yourself having to try and reach out to find out why.

Limited Contact Information

No contact details or phone number you can call for support. No registered business address. No VAT number - these should all be red flags to you. A lot of the "competition" we have have re-branded several times. They do this after being exposed, continuing the cycle of deception.

No Support or Warranty

Shady vendors often lack warranties or customer support, leaving you stranded if issues arise. 

Non-Compliant Products 

Units that don’t meet General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) or UKCA can be unreliable and unsafe.
