The Kia Sorento Mk1, the first generation of Kia's mid-size SUV, was launched in 2002 as a rugged, body-on-frame vehicle aimed at off-road capability and practicality. A facelift arrived in 2006, bringing a refreshed front end and production of the Mk1 Sorento continued until 2009, when it was succeeded by the more road-focused, unibody Mk2 model.
