MAIN FEATURES
If you have a factory upgraded fibre optic amplified sound system in your Mercedes-Benz, then when you change the stereo to an after-market unit you can either buy fibre optic retention interface or a bypass cable. This product here is our amplifier bypass option. This is suitable for models with D2B and MOST fibre optics.
The majority of cables such as speaker wires, power wires and the radio antenna are found in the rear of the car at the original amplifier. This means that to integrate a new after-market head unit with your Mercedes you must run this kit to connect the speaker outputs directly to the speaker wire harness in the trunk, bypassing the OEM fibre optic amp. This works fine with the base stereo system as it only has 4 channels. Using the fibre optic bypass cables allows you to connect the sound output from the radio to the front left, front right, rear left, and rear right channels. The upgraded audio options in these cars however have many more channels and if you want to use all of them it will require the installation of our of a Fibre Optic Interface.
COMPATIBLE WITH THE FOLLOWING MODELS:
- Mercedes CL-Class [W219] (1998-2006)
- Mercedes CLS-Class [C219] (1998-2006)
- Mercedes E-Class [W211] (2002-2012)
- Mercedes GL-Class [X163 & X164] (1998-2011)
- Mercedes ML-Class [W163 & W164] (1998-2011)
- Mercedes R-Class [W251] (2005-2011)
- Mercedes S-Class [W220] (1998-2005)
- Mercedes SL-Class [R230] (2001-2011)
- Mercedes SLK-Class [R171] (2004-2010)
FITMENT NOTES:
1. There will be only four car speakers that will work after bypass from the factory fibre optics audio system.
2. It is plug and play for Mercedes-Benz with Harmon Kardon fibre optic audio system as they have same connectors. But if your car has BOSE fibre optic audio system, then the audio connectors are not the same, you need to splice wires. Our cable will have the Harmon Kardon speaker plug (2 rows of pin). The BOSE amp (made in USA) will have a plug with 3 rows of pins. You would need to remove our plug and then re-wire manually. We can provide a pin-out diagram to do this, should you require.
3. Audio Tech Direct also offers solutions to retain D2B and MOST fibre optic sound systems too.
