This Steering Wheel Control Interface to allow plug and play installation of an after-market head unit into a vehicle whilst maintaining use of the steering wheel controls. Steering control and stalk adaptors have a very simple but useful function - essentially, they enable you to retain the use of your steering wheel controls when you have an aftermarket head unit fitted, so you can control and enjoy your in-car entertainment exactly the way you want to.
PLEASE NOTE: Each interface is compatible with a range of patch leads. An additional patch lead is required for the steering controls depending on the make of radio being fitted. If unsure please SEE HERE.
FEATURES:
Steering wheel control interface and adapter cable for various Mercedes cars to fit an aftermarket radio upgrade. The cable adapts from the Quadlock connector in the car to standard aftermarket ISO connectors. This replaces the need for a separate ISO radio replacement adapter cable.
The CANbus steering wheel control interface is built in to the adapter cable for a plug and play installation. This interface will allow the original audio control buttons on the steering wheel to work with the new aftermarket radio. The interface will work the volume, track skip and phone buttons. Note; the operation of these buttons can be dependent on the vehicle spec and radio compatibility.
The CANbus interface will also provide ignition, illumination, speed pulse, hand brake and reverse gear output signals to the new radio.
SLK Note: Use this interface for later models R171 with the steering control buttons in a circular cluster. This change of steering wheel happened around 2008 models.
