The Land Rover Discovery (often referred to as the Discovery 5 or just L462) began in December 2016, and the UK market received its first deliveries in February 2017 . The vehicle entered its first major facelift in late 2020 (model year 2021). It remains in production as of mid‑2025, with no full model replacement yet; a second facelift is rumored around 2025 ahead of a potential generation change in the latter part of the decade.

The vehicle was fitted with the 8" or 10.2" InControl Touch Pro system. This was usually in the Harman system but models just before the facelift were usually on the JLR branded host. Facelift models use the Pivi Pro JRL infotainment system.
