Lexus GS [MK2] (1997-2004)
The second-generation Lexus GS (S160) debuted in 1997 (as a 1998 model), featuring sleek, in-house styling by Lexus and a focus on performance-luxury balance. Built on a new platform, it offered the GS 300 (3.0L inline-6) and GS 400 (4.0L V8), with the GS 430 replacing the 400 in 2001.
A facelift in 2000 (for the 2001 model year) brought revised headlights, taillights, and subtle interior upgrades. Production ran until 2004, when it was succeeded by the third-generation GS (S190).
