The first-generation Lexus IS (XE10) debuted in 1999 and was originally launched in Japan in 1998 as the Toyota Altezza. Available as the IS 200 and IS 300, it offered inline-6 engines and later added a SportCross wagon variant in 2001. A facelift in late 2002 (for the 2003 model year) brought updated styling and interior tweaks. Production ended in 2005, making way for the second-generation IS.
An amplifier is installed behind the glovebox and requires the bypass adaptor.
