Launched in 2015, the ND MX-5 was a dramatic return to the lightweight roots of the original NA. After the NC had grown in size and weight, Mazda refocused: less weight, tighter proportions, and pure driving engagement — all wrapped in sleek, modern styling. The vehicle undertook facelifts in 2018 and 2021.

Prefacelift models are fitted out with the basic radio or the MZD Connect system. Models from 2024 models have the Mazda Connect 2 system with the 10.25" widescreen.
