The pre-facelift models were built from 2000 until mid-2004. This version introduced a more rounded and modern design compared to the W202, with a focus on comfort and technology. It was available in sedan, station wagon, and coupe (SportCoupé) body styles.
The interior featured early versions of Mercedes’ COMAND infotainment system in higher trims, while base models had simpler Audio 10 or Audio 20 head units with AM/FM, cassette or CD playback. Optional systems included navigation and CD changers. The facelift in 2004 brought updated lights, interior materials, and revised electronics.
