Mercedes CL-Class [C140] (1992-1999)
The Mercedes-Benz C140, produced from 1992 to 1999, was the first model to bear the CL name, serving as the luxurious coupé counterpart to the W140 S-Class. The C140 offered advanced features for its time, including double-pane window glass, soft-close doors, and electronically adjustable suspension.
In terms of infotainment, early models featured the Becker Grand Prix or Becker Mexico cassette radios, with optional CD changers in the trunk. Later models were available with the Becker Audio 10 or Audio 30 systems, offering more advanced features like RDS, cassette/CD playback, and basic navigation (in Audio 30 APS variants). Though limited by the era’s tech, the C140’s audio systems were high quality and could be upgraded with optional Bose sound systems, providing a refined in-cabin audio experience that matched the car’s premium character.
