Mercedes Vito [W638] (1996-2003)
The Mercedes-Benz Vito (W638) was the first generation of the Vito van, produced from 1996 to 2003. Designed and built in Spain, it marked Mercedes' entry into the mid-size front-wheel-drive van segment. In 1999, the Vito received a facelift, which included updated styling (notably a new front end), improved interior materials, and enhanced safety features. Despite mixed reviews regarding reliability and refinement, the W638 laid the foundation for future Vito and V-Class models. It was succeeded by the W639 in 2003.
