The second generation X-Trail (T31) went on sale in 2007. Slightly larger than the previous model, it is based on the Renault–Nissan C platform. The vehicle was given a facelift in 2011. The second generation was replaced in October 2013 with the incoming T3 Mk3 model.

The vehicle had 3 radio options across the T31 range. Some models were equipped with the BOSE amplified sound system also.
