The fifth-generation RAV4 was unveiled in March 2018. It is built on the same TNGA-K (GA-K) platform as the XV70 series Camry. In the United Kingdom, the fifth-generation RAV4 is available exclusively in its hybrid version, either front-wheel drive or with four-wheel drive.

In September 2021, Toyota revealed the updated RAV4 with new LED projector type headlights, alloy wheels which can be had in either silver or black, USB-C charging ports and a new larger radio infotainment screen.
