The G11/G12 is the sixth generation of the 7 Series, which entered production in 2015. G11 is the codename for the short-wheelbase model, the Long-wheelbase model is codenamed G12.

The series used the NBT ID4 system between July 2015 and June 2016. Then used ID5/ID6 for the rest of the term.
