MAIN FEATURES
If your Mercedes has the fibre-optic amplifier sound system such as Harman-Kardon or BOSE, then instead of bypassing the amplifier when you change stereo you can keep it! Buy this fibre-optic decoder box and the replacement head unit will work with your amplifier sound system directly.
This decoder provides high-quality audio and video levels for your in-car entertainment needs.
To identify if you have an amplified audio system, you can check with the original invoice received when the car was purchased from the factory. Some vehicles will have clear markings on the speaker grills indicating the presence of an upgraded audio system. Or you can call your local dealer with your vehicles chassis number and ask them to check if the vehicle was manufacturer with an amplified audio system.
When installing this interface into your Mercedes-Benz you must make sure that the fibre optic signal loop is not broken. If you have other devices which can include original CD Changer, satellite radio, and telephone module they must stay connected so the fibre optic signal loop is consistent.
WE RECOMMEND PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION WITH THIS ITEM. YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND FIBRE OPTICS WITH THIS INSTALL.

- Mercedes-Benz SL-Class [R230] (2000-2003)
- Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class [R170] (2000-2004)
PLEASE NOTE: When installing this interface into your Mercedes-Benz you must make sure that the fibre optic signal loop is not broken. If you have other devices which can include original CD Changer, satellite radio, and telephone module they must stay connected so the fibre optic signal loop is consistent. For vehicle that have D2B fibre optics, not MOST. We offer other kits for MOST fibre optic systems.
Important Notes
In additional, you also need to use MB part # 000-545-33-84, which connects the two ends of the D2b plug together (this is accomplished by removing the fibre ends from the plug) and wrap these new loop connectors in electrical tape: they will ground out otherwise which causes audio to cut out until the amplifier restarts.
When unplugging these devices, you need to remove the fibre optic connectors and install a connector loop between the two ends. The part number to accomplish this is 000-545-33-84. To remove the original connectors, it’s simply a case of pulling a grey “key” out of the lower side and the wires will come out.
CD Changer - Behind driver’s seat, remove all panels until you get to the amplifier.
Cell Phone - Behind the centre console, there is a panel that is removed in the process of getting to the amplifier (between the two rear storage boxes), you will see the fibre wire running and a module in the centre that needs to be disconnected.
Voice Control - This unit is next to the amplifier (under the storage behind the driver seat). I believe the connection is underneath so you will have to look closely for it.
