MAIN FEATURES
If your Mercedes is equipped with a fibre-optic amplifier system such as Harman Kardon or BOSE you don’t need to bypass the amp when upgrading your stereo. Instead, you can retain your factory amplifier by using this fibre-optic decoder interface. It allows your new head unit to work seamlessly with the original sound system.
This adaptor is essential for vehicles fitted with a factory fibre-optic (MOST) audio system. It ensures high-quality audio and video integration, allowing you to upgrade your stereo while keeping the original fibre-optic amplifier, such as the Mercedes Audio Gateway or Harman Kardon unit.
The interface connects at the rear of your new stereo, taking its phono audio output and converting it into a digital signal compatible with the factory MOST fibre-optic amplifier.
To determine if your vehicle has a fibre-optic amplified audio system, you can:
-
Check the original sales invoice from when the car was purchased;
-
Look for branding (e.g. Harman Kardon or BOSE) on the speaker grilles
-
Or contact your local Mercedes dealer with your vehicle’s VIN/chassis number and ask them to confirm whether the car was factory-fitted with an amplified sound system.
